The Biggest Problems with Sports Arbitrage Betting

There are a number of things that can go wrong with sports arbitrage betting and you need to be aware of them from the outset.

1. Taking too long to place bets

If you take too long to place your bets you run the risk of the odds changing before you complete all of your betting.  There are certain things you can do to reduce your risks.

· Make sure your accounts are topped up with the right amount of money before you lay your bets that way the time spent laying the bets is reduced and therefore your risk.

· Start with the obvious good odds bet first.  If one bookie is offering decimal odds of 10 when all the others are offering odds of 6 on the same result this is the bet you need to place first as it is the most likely to move.

2. Bookmaker errors

Most bookmakers have a rule in their terms and conditions which states that if they make an obvious error they are within their rights to cancel the bet and refund your money.  It is unlikely a bookie would invoke that rule if small amounts of money are involved because they will be looking at the bigger picture and your repeat custom.  If you are betting big though you need to try and avoid the obvious mistakes if you can.

3. Commission / exchange rates

Some bookies charge a commission or tax on winnings paid out.  This commission can be in the region of 5% but as our profits are in the same ball park you need to check out all the bookies you are going to use beforehand.  Do your research.  The betting market is global now that we have the internet as a tool and you can be laying bets in all kinds of currencies.  If you are betting in a foreign currency then you need to be aware that the banks may charge you commission to exchange that currency back to your own

4. Bad bookies

Most bookies are reliable but some are not you need to research your bookmaker thoroughly before you use him, thankfully there are various websites out there which rate bookmakers and people are also prone to writing about any bad experiences they have had.
