Scraping – don’t do it
Scraping is a term applied to a method of building websites which exploit the advertising process which delivers adverts relevant to content. The advertising packages do not analyse the website for grammar or spelling they just look at the content and deliver adds that are relevant.
Scraping involves someone typing a search term into a browser visiting a number of websites copying the content of those sites into a text editor and then arranging the text into some sort of order. The resultant text is then changed subtly to avoid the search engines declaring duplicate content and then the text is pasted into a web page the add code added and the author just waits for the clicks on his adds.
Although this system probably works to some degree you are not likely to have a number of returning visitors to a page full of rubbish.
You can even get tools which scrape the web for you and even more tools that will rewrite text for you.
Is it worth the effort ? I don’t think so I think it is much more satisfying to have content out there which is informative unique and which will hopefully attract visitors and returning visitors time and time again.
How many times will this unique text and all the other info on this site be scraped by unscrupulous webmasters who will post it as rubbish on their own web site to make a very small amount of money and spoil the enjoyment of thousands surfing the web.
