Article Title How do I stop my baby crying

Author - The Article Shop - PG

Why is my baby crying ?

Babies cry - it doesn’t mean you are not a good mum.  Babies cannot talk and therefore the only way they can communicate is by smiling or crying.  A crying baby is looking for some form of attention either because there is something wrong but it can be as simple as they are just lonely.

Newborns do cry easily, because they are very sensitive. They may not like being handled for dressing and bathing, and they startle easily at sudden noises and bright lights.

Always respond to your baby, don’t take any notice of people who tell you you’re spoiling your baby by giving him / her attention. A newborn baby is too young to be manipulative, and they only cry when they need something. They have no other way of attracting your attention.

It could be that your baby is ill, look out for the following symptoms :-

• A raised temperature or rash.

• Your baby turns blue while crying.

• Even though your baby is crying, the crying seems laboured or weaker than normal.

• Your baby is experiencing difficulty in breathing.

• A high-pitched, moaning cry along with blotchy, pale skin, a raised temperature with cold hands and feet, refusal to feed, and an unusual stiffness or floppiness could be signs of meningitis.

The above is a guide only and you should rely on your instincts, if you think your baby is ill you should contact your GP, health visitor or local A&E for advice.

But how do I stop my baby crying ?

There are a number of things you can do to try to stop your baby crying:-

I cant cope with my baby crying

As we said above - Babies cry, it doesn’t mean you are a bad mother.  If you get stressed your baby will sense this and become stressed also.  If you feel you are getting stressed, put the baby down for a few moments, leave the room for a few moments to compose yourself.  Take baby for a walk in his pram / pushchair.  Ask someone to look after your baby for a while whilst you go for a walk.  Ask your health visitor or GP for advice.

Remember this will not last for ever.
