Build a website and monetize it
Again it sounds simply but one of the easiest ways to make money on the web is to build a website and monetize it. From the outset you need to be focused on the content of your site not the money side of it, if you get the website right the money will follow.
Before you design your site you need a niche. A niche is a specialised area in which you have a lot of knowledge which you can share with other people through your website. If you make your site really interesting to people who are interested in the topic you will get visitors returning. These visitors are called traffic to your website, once you have traffic you can start enticing people to follow links on your site which will generate income for you we will discuss this in the section called monetization. We discuss niche markets in a section called whats your niche and try to guide you to your niche.
I cannot stress enough that the content of your website must be good. Good content will increase your rankings with the search engines which will again give you more traffic.
It is very easy to build a bad website, but a bad website will not generate much income at all if any.
I can once again point you to my own experiences which will hopefully help you in allowing you to progress without making the same mistakes I made after all thats what this site is all about.
I discovered a tool that allowed you to place ebay items for specific topics on a web page I used this tool to develop the site. I decided that my niche would be pop music and my first site was dedicated to the Beatles, in my opinion one of the best bands of all time (as I said thats my opinion). I will not place a hyperlink on this site but if you type the following into any browser you should find the site quite easily “beatlesdirect.co.uk” as you can see it was pretty naff because there is no real original content but I monetized the site and it did generate income (still is to this day) but that site has not made me a millionaire (yet).
As I said that website generated income all be it a small amount so I then set about creating identical sites but using different artists as the topic so I would generate traffic from people looking for artists from Madonna to Led Zeppellin. Again I will not place hyperlinks to the sites on this site but if you were to type the following into a web browser “beatles-memorabilia.50webs.com” and go to the links page you will see that there is a network of over 150 sites each with 10 pages which gave me a web presence of 1500 pages (not including other sites I have built. Great sit back and watch the money roll in, or thats what I thought. What I hadn’t considered was the fact that the search engines do not like bad sites although I initially had good positions in the search engine rankings for various search terms as time went by the search engines established that there was no real content on my site and my rankings slipped along with my visitors (traffic) and so the money I was earning dropped from a steady flow to a trickle and then a drip.
How many times have you been searching on the web for something and stumbled across a site which consists of nothing more than mixed up words which make no sense. This is done by people who are looking for the easy solution (you will see how this generates income when you read our monetization section) but it only works in the short term and even then not very well and how many visitors will you have returning – none is my bet because there is no reason to return.
