A Place In The Sun was one of the 50's most intriguing films. The release date was
October 11, 1951. I celebrated my third birthday party on that exact date, but it
wasn't until years later that I actually saw that film. As I was growing older, I
developed a big crush, like most of my
friends, on Elizabeth Taylor.
The search to find one’s identity is at the heart of Orson Welles’ film, Citizen Kane. The film’s main protagonist, Charles Foster Kane, is in a life-long search for his true self. The sequence of Kane’s first marriage to Emily Norton is a representation of Kane’s search; his life in microcosm. Understanding the construction of the marriage sequence is therefore important in understanding it as a microcosm of Kane’s life. The unique application of cinematography, mis-en-scène, editing and soundtrack come together
The third and final sequel of the $100 million Resident Evil hits is finally here. Every time I go to the video store, I’m assaulted by a new wave of low-budget horror flicks. Many have slick packaging and can boast either an award or critical praise, while others look like they were put together in the dark by rabid monkeys. Either way, the outside of the film often has very little to do with what’s on the inside. That neat-looking movie nestled in between Moulin Rouge and Runaway Bride may be a major disappointment, while the one on the bottom shelf of the back row may be surprisingly
Series like ‘Angel’ are very much loved by the kids and also most downloaded by the kids. Although several years have passed since its cancellation, but people still download ‘Angel’. Here’s a little review of the series for those who’re new to the show ‘Angel’. This very popular series was a spin off of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and it moved around Angelus, one of the most vicious vampires in the history. Series followed him throughout his journey which caused pain, chaos and destruction everywhere he
Gadgets and James Bond movies are almost synonymous to each other. For years and years, the Bond franchise showcased some of the most innovative gadgets that people would only dream of having - pens that explode, boom boxes that launch rockets and even credit cards that double as lock picks.
However, these gadgets can be found missing in Quantum of Solace the most recent installment of the Bond series.
I’ve always been a sucker for movies that are a bit outside the norm. Hell, who am I kidding? I love movies that are way outside the norm. Sure, most of them may be doomed to box office failure and critical ridicule, but they’re a nice change of pace from the mindless drivel Hollywood routinely churns out. Now, don’t get me wrong--I actually like some of the aforementioned mindless drivel, but variety, as they say, is the spice of life. It’s just like pop music. There’s nothing wrong with liking Britney Spears or Justin
James Bond has always been the coolest of the cool. He never seems to get rattled
by the bad guys and he always gets the girl. Quantum of Solace seems to have taken
James Bond to a new place. Perhaps, Bond is only human after all.
The new James Bond
thriller Quantum of Solace has numerous elements that previous Bond flicks have shied
away from. What becomes immediately evident is that Quantum
Sequels are a tricky proposition for most filmmakers. Often, whatever magic existed in the first film is lost by the time the second hits the screen. This is not the case with The Devil’s Rejects, a follow-up to the 2003 low-budget House of 1000 Corpses. Instead of simply regurgitating his first film, director Rob Zombie (of White Zombie fame) takes the legend of the Firefly clan in a whole new direction, and, in the process, he turns out a film which is actually superior to the original.
This is a film that explores the life of Jane Austen, a very famous novelist who wrote such great works as Pride and Prejudice which also became a major motion picture that was received with critical acclaim.
Although this film started out somewhat slow, the overall noir of this film is amazing. It contains a stunning performance by Anne Hathaway as Jane Austin, a performance that is just mesmerizing in its breath and scope.
